IBC translates world local TV news into English for web

The Internet Broadcast Corporation is giving English speaking news junkies something to savour. Launching a worldwide translated local video news service called IBCtoday, they are anticipating the huge uptake in IPTV viewing in the coming years.

Intending to be the destination of choice for breaking news and local stories from cities around the globe, it’s the first online TV news network to give viewers immediate access to internationally originated news as it happens - already subtitled into English.

The IBC news network delivers video news from leading global news broadcasters that is already translated and subtitled in English, and fully searchable by keyword, country, city and news category.

The network has signed agreements with leading news providers like Associated Press TV, and is scouring the globe looking for other entities who haven’t already got their own plans in this space. So far, it’s landed them the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and what they claim are “top South-Western Asian, Eastern European and African local television broadcasters”. These turn out to be local television broadcasters from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Gabarone, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Sierra Leone and Zambia.

Tyler Cavell, IBC Founder, tells us:

“IBCtoday’s goal is to be the leading provider of global news. With our delivery technology and world-wide partnerships with top broadcasters and content providers, we will do for International news what CNN has done for local news in the US - give you timely access anywhere it happens, and let you see it from the local perspective.”

At the moment, IBC publishes about 80 global news video clips a day, making up roughly 1.5 hours of video news content. This stuff is pumped to the web throughout the day, giving global news from a local perspective.

Something of an afterthought, IBC has worked up an advertising package. It claims that directed and targeted in-stream video advertisements are available as well as control of advertisement placement and frequency, no less. This together with the expected analysis and monitoring tools.
