Free title becomes world’s biggest newspaper

Metro International publishes 70 daily editions of Metro in 21 countries around the world. The free newspaper is read daily by 18.5 million readers in 91 major cities, building up to 37 million readers a week.

And this week, the publisher was awarded the largest global newspaper accolade by the Guinness World Records company.

The Luxembourg company has grown continuously over the past eleven years, outstripping many local paid for titles in that time and even becoming the number one newspaper in some markets. Designed to be read in 20 minutes, the title has launched this year in Bohemia, Moravia, Castellon, Canary Islands, the Basque country, Mexico City and Croatia.
