Updating the human sandwich board concept, these denim jackets have thin flexible light panels on their backs which illuminate interchangeable images. The lighting comes via three AA batteries that give over 100 hours of use, according to developer Back-Lite.
Using CeeLite panels, the denim jackets illuminate interchangeable transparencies that can be printed on standard computer printers using inexpensive transparency film.
President of American Light, Gary Shaffer, tells us:
“The Back-Lite jackets take the imprint sportswear industry into the 21st century and beyond by creating products that allow the retailer and end user to change the graphic aspects of a garment in a few seconds. Where the industry was once limited to static screen printed, embroidered, appliqued and embossed graphics, there now can be interchangeable back-lighted standard and lenticular graphics without limitations.”
These jackets and other similar items of clothing are going to be de rigeur for promotional teams and event marketers plying their trade in club and bar environments. Wearable media are evolving fast, so expect to see many more lit fabric delights in this marketing space.
