Philips is pioneering technology that allows clothing to contain illuminated, moving images. Lumalive will let advertisers feature moving, illuminated images embedded into fabrics.
It has been developed by the Photonic Textiles division of Philips Research. The light emitting textiles have to be flexible and durable. And of course the batteries can’t be too heavy or bulky.

The technology isn’t restricted to clothing, but can appear within any textiles. Applications include sofas, pillows. I suspect a new craze in handbags is just around the corner.
