Scanbuy preloaded on Nokia mobiles

Scanbuy lets people use their camera phones to take a picture and decode barcodes. One scan lets you stream music, watch trailers, download ringtones, access information, and shop with your mobile phone.

Now Nokia have made a global partnership agreement with the innovator to preload Scanbuy’s mobile marketing software on Nokia handsets. The China region will be the first market to see the technology. Users of Nokia S60 and S40 handsets will be able to recognise and decode barcodes on products, media and advertising and to link directly to content and services
from their handsets.

Scanbuy CEO Jonathan Bulkeley tells us:

“Within the next 24 months we expect 2D barcodes to become ubiquitous within Greater China as marketers and media deploy codes on all products and advertising.”

Consumers will be able to scan for product information on price, availability, features, rebates and special offers. They can also scan embedded information in product advertising, create shopping lists, purchase items or link to the web for more information.
